Global Goal 1 - No Poverty

Let's learn about Global Goal 1!

Global Goal 1, also known as "No Poverty," is all about eradicating extreme poverty from our world. Sounds like a big task, right? Well, it is, but together we can make a huge difference.

Imagine a world where everyone has access to basic needs like food, water, shelter, and education. That's the world we want to create with Global Goal 1. We want to make sure that nobody has to worry about going hungry or not having a roof over their head.

How do we achieve this goal? Here's some ideas:

  1. Support local businesses: When you shop at small businesses in your community, you're helping to create jobs and support the local economy. This can have a big impact on reducing poverty.
  2. Donate to anti-poverty charities: There are many organisations out there that are working hard to fight poverty. By donating to them, you're helping to provide food, shelter, and education to people in need.
  3. Educate yourself and others: Understanding the root causes of poverty is key to addressing it. By educating yourself and others, you can help to create awareness and advocate for change.
  4. Volunteer: There are many ways to volunteer your time and skills to help those in need. Whether it's volunteering at a local shelter or teaching a class, your efforts can make a big difference.

How is progress going?

Well, if we were to imagine Global Goal 1 as a game of "Poverty-Be-Gone," it would be fair to say that we've made some progress, but we still have a lot of levels to complete before we can win the game!

On the positive side, we've managed to clear a lot of obstacles in the early levels. We've implemented various poverty reduction programs, and as a result, the global poverty rate has fallen to its lowest level ever recorded. However, we've encountered some unexpected challenges in the last level, which is the COVID-19 pandemic, and it's set us back quite a bit. We'll need to work extra hard to overcome this challenge and continue to progress towards our goal.

So, while we've made some good progress, we can't let our guard down just yet. We need to keep pushing forward, collecting more resources, and working together to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive and live a life free from poverty.
