Halloween Nature Jokes for Kids
Halloween is the one night of the year when bats, spiders and owls get the starring role. These creepy crawlies and creatures of the night are some of nature's most useful animals, and they're also brilliant at making us laugh. Here are our favourite Halloween jokes for kids, with a spooky nature fact or two along the way.
Bat jokes
- What's a bat's favourite subject at school? The alpha-bat.
- What do bats do for fun? They just hang around.
- What's a bat's favourite sport? Cricket. They always bring their own bat.
- What do you call a bat with a magic wand? Bat-ra-cadabra!
Did you know? Bats are the only mammals that can truly fly. A tiny pipistrelle bat can eat up to 3,000 insects in a single night, which makes bats fantastic pest controllers.
Spider jokes
- Why did the spider join the computer club? It wanted to build a website.
- Why was the spider picked as goalkeeper? It's brilliant at catching flies.
- What did the spider bride wear? A webbing dress.
- How do spiders chat to their friends? On the World Wide Web.
Did you know? Weight for weight, spider silk is stronger than steel. Spiders are a big part of a healthy garden too. Find out why every creature matters in our guide to biodiversity for kids.
Owl jokes
- What do owls say on 31 October? "Happy Owl-o-ween!"
- What do you call an owl magician? Hoo-dini.
- Why did the owl invite its friends round? It didn't want to be owl by itself.
Did you know? Owls can't move their eyes, so they turn their heads instead, as far as 270 degrees.
Pumpkin jokes
- What do you call a chubby pumpkin? A plumpkin.
- Who helps little pumpkins cross the road? The crossing gourd.
- What's a pumpkin's favourite sport? Squash.
Did you know? Pumpkins are a fruit, not a vegetable. Lots of carved pumpkins end up in the bin after Halloween, so try roasting the seeds, turning the flesh into soup and composting the rest.
Spooky jokes
- Where do ghosts go swimming? Lake Eerie.
- What do you call a witch at the beach? A sand-witch.
- What do you call a haunted chicken? A poultry-geist.
- What do you get if you cross a snowman with a vampire? Frostbite.
