Earth Cubs and Environmental Learning

As educators, we are aware of our responsibility to teach about sustainability and climate change. Eco-anxiety is on the rise, and teaching about this important topic should be empowering. Earth Cubs educates and equips in a positive, empowering way!

Children are affected by climate change in many different ways. They are inherently curious - they want to understand the world around them and are constantly experimenting how to interact with it.

Children are future global citizens and we all need to help children make positive, daily decisions that help the planet!

Environmental learning needs to be a more central, visible response to world action. Curriculum frameworks and Government support is starting to bring the topic into the headlights. This will provide educators a checklist, a framework which will set out the rationale. Yet, it’s the pedagogy which is fundamental.

The key is creating opportunities where children can explore their world: ask questions, be inspired by the awe and wonder of the natural world, learn how to build a relationship with it and create agency and be a part of an action-based solution.

Introduce children to amazing animals and environments beyond their daily lives. Tell thought provoking stories that challenge what they know, encourage global thinking and make opportunities to take part in activities to be a part of real world action.

The Earth Cubs innovative CPD programme uses a ‘triangular approach’ to accelerate environmental learning, using the Global Goals, active learning and using the 4’cs.

Each CPD module has videos, step by step guides, lessons, activities and interactive quizzes for knowledge consolidation. Earth Cubs bite-sized training is designed to fit around your busy schedule, whether at break time or lunch you can learn on the go!

The Earth Cubs app

The Earth Cubs app uses gaming and storytelling to make planet-saving positive, exciting and relevant to young minds. Children are transported to new environments, making their own learning pathways and scaffolding their learning in an incidental way. Meeting cool characters and spotlighting the biodiversity, learning about cultures and the people that live there, and highlighting the geography.

The Earth Cubs platform places the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals at its heart. Each Earth Cub environment is linked to one Global Goal and environmental theme, giving a clear focus to what is harming the planet and directing children to how they can help. The app and resources and videos, all support teachers and learners in the right way, a positive way.
