Farm to Fork Wordsearches About Potatoes and Food

This printable farm to fork wordsearch pack invites children to hunt for hidden words about farms, potatoes and the journey food takes before it reaches our plates. It is a quiet, hands-on activity that works well at a table, in a classroom or on a rainy afternoon at home.

As children search for each word, they meet the ideas behind the journey from farm to fork: where food is grown, how farming works, and how transport helps food travel from the field to the shops and then to our homes. Potatoes are a friendly, familiar example, so even younger children can connect the words to meals they know. The worksheet is suitable for ages 3-7, and older children up to 11 can enjoy it too.

To get more from it, ask questions as you go. Where do you think potatoes grow? How do they get from the farm to your kitchen? What might happen along the way? Children could then draw the journey of a potato in steps, or tell you their favourite potato meal and trace where each part of it might have come from.

Adults can help younger children by reading the words aloud and spotting the first letters together. Older children can work on their own and then write a sentence using each word. It is a simple way to build vocabulary, practise spelling and start a conversation about food, farming and looking after the planet.
