Where’s Nigel the Narwhal? Use as a mind map and ask children to think of words to describe the image.
What do you see? Pass around an ice cube. Look at the image and describe the environment, feel the ice cube and describe the sensation.
Repeat the sentence ‘looking through the window’ and finish the sentence imagining what the black dots could be. E.g a polar bear’s beady eyes looking back at me. Describe and think about what you already know about the Arctic.
