A day in the life of Eku the Elephant
Michelle Parkes ·
Hello Earth Cubs! I’m Eku the Elephant and I love living in the endless plains of the Serengeti! Let’s take a look around and I can tell you why clean water is so important!

Do you like my long trunk? I use it to smell, breathe and make loud noises! I love sucking up lots of water and squirting it over my friends!

It is VERY hot in the Serengeti. Like you, I need to protect myself from the sun. We don’t have elephant sunscreen but we do have lots of dust and mud! Elephants put dust and mud all over themselves to protect from the sun.

Water is really important to me. My wrinkly skin makes me look like an old grandma. But it’s clever as it can hold lots of water. That keeps me cool. I can even smell water from 12 miles away!
I LOVE water! I LOVE drinking it and spraying it. Water is so important for animals and humans. It keeps us all healthy.
I’m great at swimming and use my trunk as a snorkel. I can also run pretty fast. I’d be useless at the hurdles though. Elephants can’t jump!

What’s that noise? I can hear through my feet! My friends are stomping a few miles away. They want me to come play with them.
What do you call an elephant that never takes a shower? A SMELLY-phant!
You can save water at home and help the planet. Turn off the tap! Take short showers! Cut down on baths! Cut down using hose pipes!
