Christmas Eco Jokes for Kids

Christmas is full of twinkly lights, cosy jumpers and terrible cracker jokes. We think the planet deserves a laugh too, so we've wrapped up our favourite festive jokes for kids along with some simple ways to make this Christmas a little greener.

Reindeer jokes

  • What do reindeer hang on their Christmas trees? Horn-aments.
  • How does Rudolph know when Christmas is coming? He checks his calen-deer.
  • What do you call a reindeer with no eyes? No eye-deer!

Did you know? Reindeer are the only deer where both males and females grow antlers.

Snowman jokes

  • What do snowmen eat for breakfast? Ice Krispies.
  • Where do snowmen keep their money? In a snow bank.
  • What do you call a snowman in summer? A puddle.
  • How do snowmen get around? They ride an icicle.

Christmas tree jokes

  • Why did the Christmas tree go to the barber? It needed a trim.
  • How do Christmas trees get ready for a party? They spruce themselves up.
  • What did the Christmas tree say to the bauble? "Stop hanging around!"
  • What do you call a Christmas tree that comes back every year? An ever-green.

Green tip: A potted tree can live outside in the garden and come back indoors next Christmas. If you have a cut tree, many councils collect them in January and turn them into wood chippings.

Festive animal jokes

  • Why did the turkey join the band? It already had the drumsticks.
  • What do elves learn at school? The elf-abet.

Green Christmas jokes

  • Why doesn't Santa's sleigh pollute the air? It runs on reindeer power.
  • Why was the reusable gift bag so happy? It gets to come back every Christmas.
  • Why is it so cold at Christmas? Because it's in Decem-brrr.
  • What falls at Christmas but never gets hurt? Snow.

Green tip: Try the scrunch test on wrapping paper. If it stays scrunched up in a ball, it can usually be recycled. If it springs back open (like foil or glittery paper), it can't.

Make it a green Christmas

Make decorations out of things you'd otherwise throw away with our crafts and free recycling activities for KS1 and KS2. Colour in a festive scene with our colouring pages, and plan the year ahead with our list of special days to celebrate our planet.
