What do you know about your carbon footprint?

Michelle Parkes ·

Your carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide you release into the air when using energy. This energy could come from transportation, the food you eat, clothing, electricity and much more!

Why is your carbon footprint so important? The more carbon released into the atmosphere, the quicker our planet warms up. We want to reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere and many governments are now setting dates for when they will be carbon neutral. They are achieving this through investing money in more renewable energy resources as well as encouraging big businesses to look at their processes.

There is one country that is actually carbon negative. The Kingdom of Bhutan has a lot of trees! More than 70% of the country is covered by forests. This means that it absorbs more carbon dioxide than it produces. It also uses renewable hydro-electric power from its rivers.
