What's that noise?

Michelle Parkes ·

Welcome to the Arctic Sea! A place so far from you and me, Arctic Terns fly through the sky, Polar Bears have fur to keep them dry.

Isn’t it so peaceful here, But wait! What is that noise you hear? Crack! There goes the breaking ice, That seal fell in and paid the price!

Down in the depths of the dark dark sea, Whales and narwhals play around free. They whistle and sing to find their food, To feed their family and not be rude.

Melting ice means more ships can pass, Ships are loud, their horns they blast! All this scary scary noise, It’s bad for turtles and porpoise.

All these nasty man-made sounds, Make sea life want to leave their grounds. Humans drill the ocean floor, Looking for oil and gas and more.

Something really must be done, To protect marine life and all their fun. They need a quiet place to thrive. Somewhere safe where seals can dive.

All our Nations need to take action, By working together we make a positive reaction! Come on Norway, Canada and Fin-land, And all the others - let’s lend a hand!
