Does coffee come from the shop?
Does coffee come from a machine?

Coffee is a hot drink served in many countries.

Coffee is made from the fruit of a tall, bushy plant called a coffee plant.
The plant grows in Africa, South America, Central America and Asia.

When a coffee plant is around 4 years old, beautiful white flowers start to grow on the branches.

A few weeks later, the flowers are replaced by the fruit of the coffee plant – the coffee cherries!

A coffee farmer will pick the coffee cherries when they are ripe.

Coffee cherries are ready to be picked when they turn a beautiful red colour.
If you pick the coffee cherries at the right time, they will make delicious coffee!

Inside the cherries are two seeds. These will be roasted to make a dark brown coffee bean.

See you guys soon! Time for a coffee break.
