Football Crazy! The World Cup is Coming!

Michelle Parkes ·

GOAAAAAL! 🎉 The FIFA World Cup is one of the biggest, most exciting events on the entire planet - and at Earth Cubs, we are absolutely, totally, completely FOOTBALL CRAZY! ⚽

Every four years, billions of people around the world stop what they’re doing and tune in to watch the world’s greatest footballers compete for the most famous trophy in sport. It’s loud, it’s colourful, it’s packed with incredible moments, and the best bit? It brings the WHOLE WORLD together. That’s pretty special, don’t you think?

⚽ What Makes Football So Amazing?

Football isn’t just about kicking a ball into a net (though that is very satisfying). It’s about teamwork, communication, and looking out for each other. No single player, no matter how brilliant , wins the World Cup on their own. You need the whole team working together, just like the Earth Cubs gang!

Our Football Crazy! video dives into exactly that, why teamwork makes everyone a winner, on the pitch and off it.

🌍 Amazing World Cup Facts with Geezer Rat!

Did you know? Geezer Rat has been digging up the most jaw-dropping World Cup facts for you…

  • More than 5 BILLION people are expected to watch the World Cup - that’s over half the people on Earth! 🌎
  • The first World Cup was held way back in 1930 in Uruguay - that’s nearly 100 years of football magic! ⚽
  • Teams from 32 different countries battle it out to lift the golden trophy. 32 countries! Imagine how many different languages, foods, songs, and celebrations that brings! 🏆
  • The World Cup trophy is made of solid 18-carat gold and weighs 6.1kg - that’s heavier than a newborn baby! (Don’t drop it.) 👶💛
  • Brazil has won the World Cup the most times - five times in total! They’re also home to the incredible Amazon Rainforest. We love Brazil! 🇧🇷🌳

🤝 Friends, Fair Play & Feeling Good

One of the very best things about the World Cup is seeing fans from completely different countries, who speak completely different languages, sharing hugs and high-fives in the stands. Football reminds us that we’re all part of the same team - the human team! (And the Earth Cubs team, obviously.)

That spirit of kindness and togetherness is something Frankie Fox lives and breathes. She’d love a World Cup watch party where everyone shares snacks and cheers for every team! Check out Friends are Fantastic! video to get yourself in the spirit of the tournament.

💚 Football & Our Planet

Here’s something really cool: football clubs and tournaments are increasingly trying to be kinder to our planet! Stadiums are going solar, teams are switching to electric team buses, and some clubs are giving old kits a new life by donating them to communities around the world. That’s the kind of teamwork that really matters.

Frankie Fox would be proper chuffed about that - upcycling and reusing is her superpower! Speaking of giving sporty things a second life, did you know old tennis balls can be recycled into all sorts of brilliant things? Our Tennis Balls! video shows how. The same idea applies to football boots and kits - before anything goes in the bin, ask: could someone else use this? ♻️

And after all that running around, make sure the players are fuelling up properly! Eat a rainbow of colourful fruits and veggies to stay strong and full of energy - just like in our Eat the Rainbow video and Rainbow Food Song. 🌈🥦

🌟 Your World Cup Do Good Dares!

Wayne the Worm is blowing the whistle - it’s time for your World Cup Do Good Dares! Can you do all five? 📋

  1. 🌍 Pick a World Cup country you’ve never heard of and find out one brilliant fact about it. The world is full of surprises!
  2. ♻️ Dig out any old football boots or kits hiding in the back of the wardrobe and donate them to a local club. Give them a new life!
  3. 🤝 Organise a kickabout with your mates and make sure everyone gets a fair go. That’s the World Cup spirit!
  4. 🌈 Make a rainbow plate of healthy snacks to eat while you watch the matches. Go on, Eat the Rainbow!
  5. 💚 Find out if your favourite club has any green initiatives - solar panels, electric transport, kit recycling and give them a cheer for it!

Whether your team lifts the trophy or not, the World Cup is always a reason to celebrate the amazing, wonderful, beautiful world we all share. Now get out there, have fun, and play fair. Come on, Earth Cubs! 🌍⚽🏆
